Construction Materials Testing Expert
Henry has more than 43 years hands-on Construction Materials Testing (CMT) industry experience across a broad range of construction projects and contract types which include airport, marine, road and bridge infrastructure. His expertise includes sampling and testing of soils, aggregate, concrete, bitumen, asphalt and assessment of the structural capacity and characteristics of earthworks and pavements.
He holds a Certificate in Civil Engineering, Advanced Diploma of Business Management and a Diploma of Project Management. With over 20 years’ experience as a NATA Authorised Representative and Technical Assessor, he has completed numerous technical assessments of CMT laboratories for NATA including some overseas assessments.
In an extensive career with the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads, he has managed and participated in many innovative projects in the areas such as quality systems, information technology, development of test methodology, development of materials specifications, training and development of new test equipment. Many of these projects involved significant change management and communication strategies for their successful implementation.
In the 1990’s, he pioneered the use of slow setting additives for the stabilisation of road pavements in Queensland. This resulted in a number of technical papers being prepared for various Departmental and industry forums. Such was the interest in this work that a paper which he co-authored was presented to the US Transport Research Board conference in Washington DC in 1999.
